He would bite his front legs, shoulder and chest when being groomed and tacked up to ride. I always thought of it as redirected aggression against the handler. If I tied him out in the courtyard I could brush him without him biting himself, because he never got saddled and worked from that experience. He also would get erections most every time he got fed grain (3 times a day). Funny how horses "adapt" or cope with their lifestyles. <br /><br />I wouldn't think Ace's issues are from any sort of environmental stress, though... it does sound physical or mental.
